Community Snapshots: University Center for Social and Urban Research
We are pleased to feature Community Snapshots–one-page data profiles that were compiled for many of the Jefferson area communities by Liz Monk and her team at the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR) in May 2016 utilizing their public Community Profile database. The first Community Snapshot listed below is an aggregate profile for the Jefferson Regional Foundation Communities across a population of 237,444. The Community Snapshots include demographic trends and key factors by percentage for use of public transportation, median household income, labor force participation, owner-occupied housing, use of SNAP benefits and overdose mortality rates with comparison rates for Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh. Also included is a graph showing the percentage of residents utilizing several types of county human services with comparison for the Jefferson Regional Communities, Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh.
