From the Desk of Dr. Gadson Introducing From the Desk of Dr. Gadson At Jefferson Regional Foundation (JRF), we recognize that health includes the conditions in which people live, work, learn, and grow. Each day, I am reminded that health is shaped by these realities, the social determinants of health (SDoH). These factors are central to JRF’s mission, and the lives of the people served by our nonprofit partners. One of the goals of the Foundation’s 2024-2028 strategic plan is to “integrate community voice and partnerships across all aspects of work.” As a result, a new series, From the Desk of Dr. Gadson will explore the critical factors that influence health and well-being in the footprint of the Foundation. Some key issues will include personal stories, data updates, and important work from nonprofit partners that highlight physical and mental health, health equity research, environmental health, and other SDoH topics. My goal with the Desk of Dr. Gadson is to connect narratives of our vibrant neighbors with the statistical data that is often shared. This series will reflect the Foundation’s commitment to our mission of improving the health and well-being of the communities surrounding Jefferson Hospital. Although the series will initially highlight health needs of the community, the underlying ask to the reader is “What more can we do together?” I invite you to follow along on our website and social media channels (Facebook and LinkedIn). Start a conversation and take action towards co-creating a healthier region where everyone can thrive. With purpose and partnership,Dr. Trisha GadsonPresident & CEO of the Jefferson Regional Foundation
