Grantmaking Information The video & information below provides an overview of the Jefferson Regional Foundation’s grantmaking process, including the types of grants available, key priorities for both the Portfolio Funds and Mon Valley Clean Air Fund, and important details about the grant timeline and application process. (Transcript for Grantmaking Information Video) The Jefferson Regional Foundation offers three types of grants: Portfolio Funds Grants: The Foundation’s primary funding source, serving 26 municipalities within the AHN Jefferson Hospital service area. Review eligibility and priorities and JRF service area before applying. Mon Valley Clean Air Fund (MVCAF) Grants: (FY 2025–2028): Supports 22 communities defined by a settlement agreement. JRF was not part of the litigation. Review eligibility and priorities and MVCAF footprintbefore applying. Mini & Emergency Grants: Flexible funding designed to respond to urgent or time-sensitive community needs. Grant Cycles & Timeline The Foundation operates on a fiscal year from July 1–June 30, with three grant cycles annually. Board Review Periods: December, March, and June Applicants will be notified after Board decisions and provided with next steps if approved for funding. Grant Application Timeline & Process 1. Determine Eligibility & Create Account in Grantmaking PortalReview the Portfolio Funds and MVCAF service areas and grantmaking priorities to determine eligibility. Once eligibility is confirmed, create an account in our grantmaking portal. 2. Initiate a Conversation and/or Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI)Initiate a conversation with Kelleigh Boland, Director of Grantmaking & Strategy, by referencing the important dates. You can also submit an LOI outlining your organization, the community need, and the proposed project. 3. Invitation to ApplyAfter scheduling a conversation with Foundation staff and/or staff reviews LOI, you may receive an invitation to submit a full grant proposal. 4. Submit Proposal in Grantmaking PortalInvited organizations will complete a full grant proposal through the online grant portal. 5. Grant DeterminationProposals are reviewed during the Foundation’s grant cycles in December, March, and June. The Foundation staff recommends proposal to Grants Committee, then funding decisions are made by the Board of Directors. The Foundation considers: Alignment with the Foundation’s mission and priorities Demonstrated community need in the service area Community engagement and partnerships Clear goals, implementation plan, and budget Potential community impact NOTE: Submitting an LOI or proposal does not guarantee funding, as the Foundation receives more requests than it can support.
