Grant Awards Since JRF was founded in 2013, we have awarded over $27 million in grants to 160+ community organizations. New Grants Awarded: Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Updated December 2024 Feminine Hygiene Products in Public Libraries Allegheny County Library Association $25,000 Increase health and well-being by offering free feminine hygiene products in the Jefferson area’s 10 public libraries via a wall-mounted dispenser in each restroom and adding “period kits” for young library patrons which include feminine hygiene products and informational literature about period health. Home Fire Campaign for the Mon Valley American National Red Cross $25,000 Increase health, well-being, and home safety by providing direct assistance to Jefferson individuals/families who experience a fire and continue programming to reduce injury and death from fires through partnerships with local fire departments. Critical Airway Management Technology Baldwin Emergency Medical Service $60,000 Improve airway management in residents living in Jefferson communities experiencing respiratory distress or cardiac arrest by purchasing new video laryngoscopes. Baldwin EMS transports an estimated 6,000 patients annually to Jefferson Hospital. Supporting Out-of-School Time Programming Best of the Batch Foundation $50,000 Through general operational support, strengthen Best of the Batch’s ability to provide quality out-of-school time programs to hundreds of children and their families living in the Jefferson footprint. S.T.E.A.M.ing into the Future Bethel Park School District $10,000 Provide the Bethel Park community an outdoor classroom to provide play and learning opportunities for youth ages 5-10 which will also improve the academic performance of students (K-5th grade) in Bethel Park School District and increase their satisfaction of the educational experience. Sustaining Holistic Immigrant & Refugee Community Health Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh $100,000/year totaling $300,000 Strengthen healthy opportunities and options for members of the local Bhutanese community by building and retaining staff capacity and moving forward with a strategic planning process. Addressing Food Insecurity Divine Restoration Outreach Ministries $50,000 Increase health and well-being by supporting ongoing efforts to supply healthy nutritious meals to residents of Duquesne and surrounding communities through weekly food bank distributions, bi-weekly food deliveries to older adults, monthly hot meals for families, and food distribution through Duquesne School District. Youth Diversion Program Foundation of Hope $75,000 Provide support to educate and equip young people who have interacted with the criminal justice system with the resources, support, and personal tools necessary to make safe, healthy, informed, life-affirming choices in partnership with Clairton and McKeesport school districts. Community Partners Program Global Links $80,000 Provide needed surplus medical supplies through partnerships with Jefferson human service agencies serving older adults and/or low-income individuals to increase organizational capacity and to ensure that individuals have the necessary supplies to lead healthy lives and maintain their independence. Operating Support to Promote Health and Well-Being Human Services Center Corporation $75,000/year totaling $150,000 Through general operational support, strengthen HSCMV’s ability to provide successful transitions to career and college for high school seniors attending West Mifflin and McKeesport high schools, assist adults on the path to self-sufficiency, and provide basic services for health and well-being. Addressing Basic Needs Macedonia Family & Community Enrichment Center $60,000 Increase health and well-being of residents living in the Jefferson footprint by providing operating support to address the needs of families experiencing temporary hardship primarily with rent, utilities, and food. Early Learning and Capacity-Building Maple Unified Student Academy, Inc. $80,000 Expand capacity for organizational growth and support consistent, high-quality, low-cost preschool and out-of-school time programming for over 100 youth and their families in Munhall, Homestead, West Homestead, McKeesport, and West Mifflin. Providing Human Milk for Medically Vulnerable Infants Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank $30,000 Support the operations of the regional donor milk bank to increase the quality of life for babies and their families, reduce health disparities, and reduce the costs of caring for premature infants. RISE Employment Services for Immigrants Pennsylvania Women Work $45,000 Prepare immigrants residing in Jefferson communities for life-sustaining employment opportunities by providing instruction, individualized counseling, mentorship, and short-term training. Addressing Food Insecurity and Capacity-Building Grant Rainbow Kitchen Community Services $60,000 Increase health and well-being by providing multiple food distributions, resource fairs, vision resources, case management, and coat/holiday distributions to thousands of residents in Homestead, West Homestead, West Mifflin, Munhall, Whitaker, and Duquesne. Strengthening Services, Infrastructure and Fiscal Health South Hills Interfaith Ministries $100,000/year totaling $300,000 Provide operational support to enhance services, to invest in infrastructure for greater community impact, and to ensure fiscal health for long-term outcomes to increase overall health and wellbeing for thousands of residents living in the Jefferson footprint. Addressing Food Insecurity St. Paul AME Church of McKeesport $15,000 Increase health and well-being by providing a food pantry to neighbors in Clairton, Glassport, Dravosburg, Duquesne, McKeesport, Port Vue, and Versailles through distributions twice each month. Addressing Gun Violence The New Sun Rising (fiscal sponsor for the MOMs Group) $17,000 Increase health and well-being for mothers in the Jefferson footprint who have lost their sons to gun violence via support groups, peer support, legacy projects, and advocating for a future without violence. Just Discipline Project at Duquesne University of Pittsburgh – School of Social Work/Center on Race and Social Problems $80,000 in year one and $70,000 in year two totaling $150,000 Support the implementation of restorative practice programming to reduce suspensions and improve school climate and school achievement for 500 children and their teachers in Duquesne City School District.
