New MVCAF Grants Awarded: Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Updated March 2026 Air Quality Learning Series 412 Justice $40,000 Communities Served: Braddock; Clairton; North Braddock Provide resources and education through in-person and virtual events to promote public health and overall well-being by offering interactive community sessions focused on air quality and environmental justice in partnership with the Clairton Family Center and Greater Valley Community Services. Meals on Wheels of Elizabeth Forward (MoW of EF) Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church $20,000 Communities Served: Clairton; Elizabeth Borough; Elizabeth Township; Forward; Jefferson Hills; West Elizabeth; West Mifflin Increase health and well-being by providing food to medically comprised neighbors of all ages in Elizabeth Township, Elizabeth Borough, Forward Township, West Elizabeth, and portions of Jefferson Hills and West Mifflin through distributions every weekday. Air Aware Program Clean Water Fund $20,000 Communities Served: Braddock; North Braddock Provide resources and education focused on air quality to residents of Braddock and North Braddock through three in-person training courses in partnership with Greater Valley Community Services, located in Braddock. Meeting Community Needs in the Mon Valley Divine Restoration Outreach Ministries $75,000 Communities Served: Clairton; Dravosburg; Duquesne; Glassport; McKeesport; Versailles; West Mifflin Increase health and well-being by supporting ongoing efforts to supply healthy, nutritious meals, offer out-of-school time programming, and operate a clothing closet for residents of Duquesne and surrounding communities. Tree Planting and Eco-Stewardship in Braddock Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest $25,000 Communities Served: Braddock Increase awareness and knowledge of tree benefits and tree techniques in Braddock and increase the tree canopy which will reduce heat, improve air quality, and enhance overall environmental quality. Maintaining a Community Asset Mon/Yough Trail Council (MYTC) $15,000 Communities Served: All MVCAF Communities Promote public health and overall well-being via access to a maintained natural environment as requested by community residents. This community hiking and biking trail extends through the boroughs of Port Vue, Liberty, Lincoln, and Elizabeth Township. Backpack Program Addressing Food Insecurity Neighborhood Resilience Project $25,000 Communities Served: Clairton; McKeesport; Duquesne Provide weekend food to students experiencing food insecurity who attend Clairton, McKeesport, and Duquesne school districts. Maintaining a Community Trail Regional Trail Corporation $10,000 Communities Served: Clairton; Dravosburg; Duquesne; Elizabeth Borough; Elizabeth Township; Liberty; Lincoln; McKeesport; Port Vue; Versailles; West Mifflin Promote public health and overall well-being via access to a maintained natural environment as requested by community residents. This community trail extends through McKeesport, Duquesne, Whitaker, West Homestead, Homestead, Munhall, and West Mifflin. Youth Development and Empowerment Young Black Motivated Kings & Queens $50,000 Communities Served: Dravosburg; Duquesne; East Pittsburgh; McKeesport; North Braddock Ensure that 25 youth in grades K-12 from Dravosburg, North Braddock, Duquesne, East Pittsburgh, and McKeesport have consistent access to educational support, emotional care, and leadership opportunities that nurture their full potential through a year-round, out of school time program rooted in a trauma informed and culturally responsive approach. Emergency Grants Awarded: Fiscal Year 2025-2026 The Foundation distributed four emergency grants to local nonprofit partners who are on the ground supporting recovery efforts and addressing community needs following the tragic incident at the Clairton Works plant of U.S. Steel on August 11, 2025. Clairton Emergency Response Take Action Advocacy Group $1,750 Communities Served: Clairton Reimburse for essential health and wellness supplies provided to residents as well as transportation to healthcare appointments following the Clairton Coke Works explosion in August 2025. Clairton Emergency Response Unity Group of Clairton $12,500 Communities Served: Clairton Host an Information Town Hall Dinner at The Georgetown Centre for 400 Clairton residents in October 2025 including guest speakers. The dinner will provide community education around community health and disaster preparedness. Clairton Emergency Response Valley Clean Air Now $31,000 Communities Served: Clairton Reimburse for air purifiers, respiratory protective masks, and bottled water provided to residents through four distributions in Clairton as a result of the explosion at the Clairton Coke Works in August 2025. Clairton Emergency Response Women for a Healthy Environment $6,750 Communities Served: Clairton Reimburse for air filters, box fans and filters, and water filters provided to residents in Clairton as a result of the explosion at the Clairton Coke Works in August 2025.
